I'm a DIY'er and ordered this unit because it was compatible with the 18V drill/batteries/charger I already had. Since I have two batteries, I always have a full and ready charge. I love the "tool only" option. It works nice under normal use, is balanced and light. I can cut through 2"x4"'s like butter and I was impressed with it ripping through a sheet of MDF. Much easier than pulling out the table saw for one or two long cuts without any help.
I am very pleased with this saw. It is much more powerful and useful than the smaller "trim saw." I have heard complaints that it uses up the battery quickly, but I have not noticed any significant problem in that regard.For approximately $50 (as a bare tool, without batteries), this was a very nice addition to my Dewalt cordless tool collection.
Bought this saw in 2006, has been reliable. Easy cuts thru 2x4, even pressure treated. Used for home renovation. Don't have a problem with the safety switch. Often I'll grab this saw instead of a corded saw even when near outlets. It is a good value.
Item was shipped promptly, we received within estimated arrival. Item received was as advertised. Appreciate it.
Replaced a 14.4v Dewalt saw with this one. It's run time is much longer. We reach for it now when we used to grab a corded saw.
